The time it takes for a shipment to arrive depends on where it’s going, how it’s moving and the services that are selected. The normal turnaround time for shipments to arrive in Jamaica or any other Caribbean islands is two (weeks), however, there may be situations that might cause some delays.

The following are reasons why shipments can arrive late:

  1. Bad Weather
  2. Crowded Ports and Terminals
  3. Supply-Chain Disruptions
  4. Rolled Shipments - “Rolled shipments” mean that ocean freight cargo has not been loaded onto the vessel it was meant to sail on. This happens when carrier capacity decreases while the customer demand increases.

Please note that a container will not be shipped until it is completely full, therefore, your cargo may be delayed.

A Bill of Lading (BoL) is a form that details the journey of a shipment. It identifies the commodity, serves as a receipt, and functions as a legally binding contract between the carrier and shipper. A BoL is necessary before freight pick up and transportation.

Yes. We recommend calling us immediately upon realizing that the information may be wrong. If your shipment is already in transit or already arrived at its port of destination, the destination office will be able to amend your information. Please note that amendments attract additional charges.

Gunter Shipping Limited ships to all Caribbean islands. We'll look to get your product to you as soon as possible.

All consignees are required to call the offices in Jamaica to make an appointment the day before to collect their shipping documents.

Please note that you will be required to provide your Tax Registration Number (TRN) to the agent to confirm your appointment.

A fee of $500 will be charged to reschedule an appointment.

At Gunter Shipping Limited, we want to ensure that the collection procession is quick and seamless as possible.

  1. Collect all relevant shipping documentation from the agent and pay all office fees.
  2. If you have an “Unaccompanied Baggage Declaration” from the airport, then this should be presented to the agent along with your passport and TRN. Wait for approval from the airport.
  3. Take documents to warehouse where packages/barrels are stored
  4. After your packages/barrels are located, they will be examined by a Customs agent.
  5. Once the examination is complete, you will pay at the Customs cashier.
  6. You will be given a release order, after which a warehouse operator will issue a gate pass.
  7. Present gate pass to security personnel, collect packages/barrels and head home.
  1. Contact Us and Request a Quote
Call or request a quote online from our website. Answer a couple questions regarding your cargo and then move on to the next step.
  1. Drop off/Pick-up Your Cargo
Customers can take their cargo to our warehouse or have one of trusted drivers collect from your home. The cargo is then processed and loaded onto a container to be shipped via air or ocean.
  1. Shipment is Delivered
Once shipment arrives at destination port, it is then tallied and reconciliation is done. Consignees can then call our local offices to make an appointment to collect their cargo or have it delivered via our door-to-door service. Customers can also opt for pre-clearance where we handle the customs clearance for you. The only thing that you would be required to do is let us know when you will be collecting your cargo.
